Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka.
The system disruption that occurred at the Department of Immigration and Emigration has now been resolved, and all services and operations have resumed normal functioning.
Accordingly, the exemptions communicated are no longer in effect. All airlines should be informed to facilitate the boarding of passengers as previously practiced.

As Sri Lanka enters the New Year 2026, the Ministry reaffirms its commitment to rebuilding the nation through principled global engagement, dignified foreign employment, and a modern, sustainable tourism economy. This is a moment for disciplined reform and renewed confidence.

Sri Lanka’s foreign policy is being advanced with clarity and balance strengthening bilateral and multilateral partnerships, restoring international trust, and positioning the country as a reliable and constructive global partner. Diplomacy today must directly support economic recovery, investment, trade access, and national security.

Foreign employment remains a vital pillar of our economy. In 2026, the Ministry’s priority is to protect Sri Lankan workers abroad, expand safe and legal migration pathways, improve skills recognition, and ensure dignity, welfare, and fair treatment for every Sri Lankan serving overseas. A skilled and protected workforce strengthens both remittances and national credibility.

Tourism is being repositioned toward quality, sustainability, and resilience. Our focus is on environmentally responsible tourism, higher value offerings, regional balance, and global standards that protect communities while enhancing Sri Lanka’s international brand.

Rebuilding Sri Lanka requires institutional strength, clean governance, and active engagement with the world. Guided by the Government’s vision, the Ministry will continue to work with international partners, the private sector, and the Sri Lankan diaspora to secure growth, opportunity, and long-term national stability in 2026 and beyond.

Statement from the Association of Sri Lankan Graduates in Cuba in Support of the Vote on the Cuban Resolution Against the US Blockade, October 28 and 29, 2025
The Sri Lankan Alumni Association in Cuba condemns the unjust and illegal economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba for more than six decades. These unilateral measures constitute a violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the sovereignty of nations.
We join in supporting Cuba in the upcoming vote on the Cuban Resolution demanding an end to the embargo, at the United Nations General Assembly on October 28 and 29, 2025.
The embargo has caused extensive economic damage and suffering to the Cuban people.
The Association of Sri Lankan Graduates in Cuba urges the United States to lift the embargo immediately and unconditionally and to respect the right of the Cuban people to determine their own development path.
As professionals graduated in Cuba, we fully trust in the capacity and commitment of the Cuban government and people to overcome the difficult economic situation, despite the embargo.
From Sri Lanka, we express our support for the Cuban people and our solidarity.

Declaración de la Asociación de egresados de Sri Lanka en Cuba de apoyo a la votación de la Resolución Cubana contra el Bloqueo Estadounidense, 28 y 29 de octubre de 2025
La Asociación de egresados de Sri Lanka en Cuba condena el injusto e ilegal bloqueo económico, comercial y financiero impuesto por los Estados Unidos de América contra Cuba durante más de seis décadas. Estas medidas unilaterales constituyen una violación de los principios fundamentales de la Carta de las Naciones Unidas, el derecho internacional y la soberanía de las naciones.
Nos sumamos al apoyo a Cuba en la próxima votación de la Resolución Cubana que exige el fin del bloqueo, en la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas, los días 28 y 29 de octubre de 2025.
El bloqueo ha causado numerosos daños económicos y sufrimientos al pueblo cubano
La Asociación de egresados de Sri Lanka en Cuba insta a Estados Unidos a levantar el bloqueo de forma inmediata e incondicional y a respetar el derecho del pueblo cubano a determinar su propio camino de desarrollo.
Como profesionales graduados en Cuba confiamos plenamente en la capacidad y el compromiso del gobierno y pueblo cubanos para superar la difícil situación económica, a pesar del bloqueo.
