H.E. Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne (Retd.), Ambassador of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Cuba, had a courtesy call on H.E. Mrs. Maria del Carmen Orellana, First Vice Minister of Tourism of Cuba.
During the meeting held with the Honorable Vice Minister, the commitment to continue strengthening bilateral ties between both nations and to identify opportunities for mutual benefit in the Tourism sector was expressed.
Cuba and Sri Lanka, two friendly nations, despite the distance, are united by their similarity as Islands, and therefore, the strategic importance of the development of tourism as an important source of income.

Sri Lanka’s Independence Day Reception followed by a dinner was held in Havana. H.E. Mrs. Marta Gonzalez, Minister (Council of Ministers of Cuba) was the Chief Guest. H.E. Mrs. Josefina Vidal, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs was the Guest of Honour. Cuban singer Laura Valdivia sang Sri Lankan songs to entertain the Crowd.
