H.E Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, Ambassador met the Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, H.E Eduardo Martinez Diaz on 13.09.2024.

Director of International Relations and Chief of the Cabinet were also present at the meeting.

Both parties expressed interest in strengthening the bilateral relations in the field of science and technology between the two countries.

An MOU was signed between the two countries on science and technology in 2016 and was subsequently renewed for further two years in 2021. Ambassador proposed to renew the MOU incorporating new clauses to suit the contemporary needs beneficial for both countries. The Minister is also of the view that the MOU should be renewed with new clauses.

The Minister invited the Ambassador to visit the Cuban Government Science and Technology Research Centers in order for him to get firsthand information.

The investment proposal submitted by a Sri Lankan Company was also taken for discussion.

The Meeting was very fruitful and productive.
